Service Life
Cyclic Life

There are a number of factors that effect the length of cyclic life of ES battery. Major factors are the ambient operating temperature, the discharge rate, the depth of discharge and the manner in which the battery is recharged, of which the most important factor is the depth of discharge. Figure 5 shows the effects of depth of discharge on cyclic life.

The relation between the expected number of cycles and the depth of discharge is apparent. If a longer cyclic life is required at a given discharge rate, it is advisable that you select a battery with larger capacity. At a given discharge rate and time, the shallower the depth of discharge, the longer is the cyclic life.

Safety Precautions

Before charging your battery please ensure the following precautions are read and understood

  • All instructions given on the charger label and in the Charger User Guide should be read and understood before attempting to use the charger
  • Do not use chargers for any purpose other than charging the batteries for which they have been specified
  • Batteries contain large amounts of electrical energy. Take care not to short circuit battery terminals and avoid connecting or disconnecting your charger before the mains supply to the charger is turned off.
  • Lead acid batteries can give off hydrogen gas which is explosive in sufficient concentration. Do not cause sparks or use naked flames in the proximity of the batteries. Always ensure adequate ventilation
  • Ensure that the charger is of the correct rating and setting for the batteries with which it is to be used.
  • Do not use outdoors or in wet or damp environments.
  • Do not cover or obstruct the ventilation slots.
